SHOE CARE GUIDE

Do you need advice on maintaining your REDSKINS shoes? You are in the right place ! Depending on the material of your pair (leather, split suede, canvas, etc.), maintenance is different.
Discover our tips to prevent them from getting damaged and that they last as long as possible!

HOW TO CARE LEATHER SHOES?

Leather shoes (boots, sneakers, derby shoes, etc.) require regular maintenance to prolong their lifespan, maintain their shiny appearance and protect them from the weather.

WAX TO KEEP THE SHINE

Smooth leather shoes deserve regular shoe polish. To do this, remove the laces, remove excess dirt with a chamois or microfiber cloth, then clean them with a damp cloth, not forgetting the sole and the heel. Then apply, using a cloth and in circular movements, a wax of the color closest to your shoes. If in doubt, prefer a colorless cream to avoid unpleasant surprises. Then let it dry before use.

CLEAN TO REMOVE STAINS

To remove a grease stain from a leather shoe, you can cover it with talc or Sommières earth and let it sit for 24 hours. Then rub with a brush and wax the entire surface of the shoe with a cream to avoid color changes.

Have the raindrops left a few traces on your leather shoes? You can fix this by applying a cream to polish the whole shoe (not just the stain).

HOW TO CARE SUEDE SHOES?

To keep your suede shoes in good condition, you have to bet on specific maintenance. Discover our tips!

WATERPROOF

If your suede shoes come into contact with rain, they can be damaged. To avoid this, they must be waterproofed so that they can be worn even in the rain. However, if water has gotten into your shoes, dry them with newspaper inside to absorb the excess. To preserve their shape, avoid putting them near a heat source.

CLEANING STAINS ON SUEDE SHOES

The suede is a fragile material that requires specific equipment. To carry out the weekly cleaning of your split suede shoes, take an eraser to erase stains and brush the hairs of the leather with a crepe brush.

If your shoe is covered with a grease stain, do not panic! Use white vinegar diluted in hot water, then tap with a sponge on the stain. Finally, rub with a clean cloth.

HOW TO CARE CANVAS SNEAKERS?

Canvas sneakers are highly popular in summer (spring and summer). They are light, comfortable and easy to wear. They do not require regular maintenance but can quickly become dirty, especially if they are light in color.

For maintenance, only soapy water is enough to remove stains. For white sneakers, you can add extra baking soda. Attention, machine washing is not recommended, it could damage your sneakers. It is better to favor hand washing. We advise you to clean both pairs at the same time to avoid color changes. Do not forget the insole and the laces to wash separately! Rinse and leave to dry in the open air and out of direct contact with the sun.
